The training program is specifically designed to provide knowledge, training and hands on experience of working in a salon so that the participants will have the best possible chance of being offered a job. The training program is open to residents of Edinburgh aged 16-19 who are looking to work in hairdressing and work towards their SVQ 2 in hairdressing.
To learn more about the job role the industry insight training program which runs for 8 weeks gives young people a chance to gain experience of working in a salon environment and also receive employability training in preparation for an apprenticeship candidates will shadow existing staff within one of the Brave Strong Beautiful Salons . Following this there will be guaranteed interviews for the apprenticeship posts.
The participants an Award in Introduction to Hairdressing. This covers:
Shampooing & Conditioning
Customer Care
Reception Duties
Health & Safety at Work
Assisting Stylists
Personal Performance at Work
An Employability component to the work placement including, CV creation, Interview Skills and Interview Practise. All candidates will receive one-to-one assistance while attending placement and advice on how to complete application forms.
Here at Brave Strong Beautiful we understand the importance of good mental health and wellbeing, that’s why we provide counselling and advocacy to candidates who need it and we have regular wellbeing events to provide the opportunity to develop self care techniques.

It is hoped that all graduates of the course will be taken on. In the unlikely event that this is not the case, a candidate will continue to receive ongoing one-to-one employability assistance.
Candidates will receive training for 8 weeks after their official start date.
All training and work experience will take place at either of our 2 Brave Strong Beautiful Salons.
