Meet the team – Kerry Anderson

Hi, I’m Kerry Founding Director at Brave Strong Beautiful – I created Brave Strong Beautiful in 2019 because I wanted to use 20 years’ experience in hair dressing to create an inspiring and accessible route to training and employment for young people who have had to face difficult challenges at home growing up. My role is at the heart of everything that’s going on. You’ll see me in the salon most days supervising the team working  with customers as well as dealing with the training delivery programmes and all the other million and one things involved in running a busy training academy.

Kerry’s idea for Brave Strong Beautiful was born out of first-hand experience and a desire to prove to young people that it is possible to turn your life around, build confidence and new skills, and create a bright future.
When asked what she loves most about her work Kerry said “Being a part of a young person’s journey into the hairdressing industry, training the young people we work with, seeing their progression and watching them passing their assessments is very rewarding but there is nothing better than witnessing that penny drop moment when they realise that they have mastered a difficult hairdressing technique”.
Brave Strong Beautiful remains the only Hair & Beauty Salon in Scotland operating as a Community Interest Company (CIC) and Kerry is passionately driven to make sure its clients continue to get the very finest hair styling service while also helping young people take those really valuable steps towards a life-long career in hair and beauty.
Kerry’s work at Brave Strong Beautiful has been recognised with many prestigious awards, most recently in October when she was recognised by Women’s Enterprise Scotland’s Purpose- Led Business of the Year award. She is also a qualified Counsellor and has worked in a number of roles in social care work.
